I have 58 Win 95 and 98 clietns on an NT4 SP6 network. 3 of the Win 98 cleitns take 20 mins+ to log on to the network on start up.

I have just started with this fiirm so I dont have much history to go on. Only that the problem seems to date from the upgrade from NT3.5 and that the users have simply been leaving their machines on over-night to work around the problem. This is, of course, fine until I need to take the servers down for maint and then the users complain when they come in the next day and try to restart!

Any suggestions?

David

Thanks Browolf,

We found the cause - there was an instruction in the autoexec.bat file to look for an old virus checker. Removed the lines from the autoexec.bat file and hey presto! boot up in under a minute!

Thanks for your help
