There are about (10) 95/98 workstations locked down with policies that were in an old domain on an old NT4 server that are no longer available. The workstations are on their own. How can the profiles be changed to allow users full access to the PCs?
I don't have access to do anything in the Network applet of the ctrl panel.

Hi.

Look for a file called config.pol and delete it. I can't remember exactly where the file is stored but it's safe to say it's somewhere in the windows directory. It may be hidden. Otherwise do a search in Google Groups for user policies or config.pol.

Regards.

Deletion of the config.pol file may not do the thing you want because win 9x has the strang habbit of keeping those things in the local registry even after a delete.

So take the policy editor of 95 (is on the cd) and open the config.pol file from the netlogon share. Change the settings so all right are given and save it. Or delete it and make a new blank one.

When you reboot your 9x systems they will clear the settings in the local registry and the users will have all rights.
