Im having a devil of a time with a machine on this small network (MRKT-W04) forcing a master browser election. Not sure if its related, but I am also getting DHCP errors on the order of "The DHCP/BINL service has determined that it is not authorized to service clients on this network..."

LOL as you can tell Im kinda new to this still

First of all.. are you running a DHCP server? And is this the server that's having the problem or just the wrks?

If your wrks can't get on with DHCP, create a static entry and see if you can connect.

Check this link regarding your other question:

Thats the thing - how do i find out if the server (which does have dhcp setup) is the one with the problem? I dont think it is, because none of the other machines on the network have caused this error...
I believe it is the workstation because at times i have to reinstall TCP/IP to resolve this machine not seeing the rest of the network.
Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

OK things have gone from bad to worse - the workstation in question now refuses to acknowledge the domain controller - yet can "manage" it, access the printer and shared folders on it... Im ready to format and start over with the lot of em!

Just a thought, but have you tried deleting the offending workstation's account from the Domain Controller and then rejoining the Workstation to the domain. It sounds as if your TCP/IP is working fine (you can "manage" the DC) but the Workstation's SID on the server may be out of sync. I've had this happen when imaging PCs and the only way around it was to remove the PC's account from the DC and then re-join the PC to the domain.

Hope this helps.

Stevie.
