There is no driver for the Canon BJC-5000 printer within windows 2k Pro. I have downloaded the win 2k driver from the Canon web site and when I click browse and go to where it's supposed to be, it doesnt show up. I can find it with explore and have even downloaded to a floppy and the desktop where I could physically see it but when I'm setting up the printer and click have disk and specify the location it isn't there. Thanks in advance for any help.

If it´s an .exe or .zip file, you have to doubleclick and extract it before windows will recon it as a driver because it can`t see the compressed .inf file that holds the install info of the driver.

I have tried that already... the self extractor pops up and says all files were extracted and then the install instructions pop up. The driver still can't be found to install. It is an .exe file for the driver.

Ok...I cured the problem. I had to download winzip and extract the file to a separate folder. For some reason the self extractor wouldn't do this. All is well>

When I first upgraded to W2K Professional, Canon USA had no driver for my BJC-5100. I seem to remember I got it easily from Australia. More recently, I have downloaded the drivers from driverguide.com. So in the past, I have not had any problems using this printer with W2K, and also ME.

I have since upgraded ME to XP, and the drivers don't work.
Inexplicably, in reconnecting the printer to my W2K, W2K acknowledges it is there, but when you try to print page, or clean or adjust cartridges, nothin happens. This is a parallel-port printer, not USB.

I too have been thru the "where is it", after downloading, and in fact have 3 folders- BJC-5000, BJC-5100, and one for Win NT. In these I have put the extracted files from downloads. I recenly tried to start from scratch again with my W2k, and it wouldn't let me delete the Canon printer- have never had that happen before.

I'm rather frazzed and angry that Canon USA has never supported this BJC-5100(in my opinion). I will see if there are any other extractable files- could be creating the .inf file is the answer- maybe I don't have that. If I can't get this printer to work on my W2k and XP, then the $99 Samsung Lazer printer looks awfully good.
