Hello everyone,
I have a problem that may be simple but I have exhausted my primitive knowledge and now I turn to you for help.
Here is my hardware configuration:
Intel D845GERG2 mainboard (Integrated LAN, AUDIO, VIDEO)
Intel P4 1.8 CPU
Kingston 256 DDR2100 Ram
Maxtor 40 Gig 7200 HD
Generic 52X CDROM
1.44 Floppy
Generic Keyboard
Microsoft Optical scroll mouse
This is a fresh install of Win 2K professional...
I inserted the Win 2K cd and booted to CDROM to start the installation process. The installation appeared to install correctly. I inserted the supplied Intel drivers CD and started the process of installing all of the integrated Intel drivers. During the process I was asked to reboot 3 times, after the 3rd reboot the computer freezes during boot up.
Here are the troubleshooting steps that I went through to:
1.) I replaced the CPU with another P4 1.8
2.) I replaced the memory with brand new 256 DDR2100
3.) I replaced the IDE cable (because I couldn't think of anything else to do)
None of these steps fixed the freezing problem. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem could be?
