So here is a fun one...

VPN is up and running and seemed to be working normally until it was discovered that windows XP users could not connect. I have since tried the connection with win 2k and 98. Both work fine... just not XP. The kicker is that it worked fine when I was using a win 2k box to do my NAT. Now that I am using a router XP does not want to connect. I thought at first it was the router, but I have been through the settings about a million times. Nothing obviously wrong. I have heard of this issue before, but no one seems to know how to fix it. Any ideas?

-Server is set up behind a NAT (Netopia R5300-T)
-I have tried DMZ and static mapping. Both were unsuccessful.
-Error number thrown by the VPN client varies (have seen 721, 800, 619, 649, etc.)

Let me know if you need more info - a big shiny trophy to the one who can figure this out =)

All set guys. Problem was in the routing. Apparently windows XP remote desktop require responses for authentication to come from the same IP that the connection is going to. Win 2k Terminal Services does not, so that was still connecting. My NAT was directing input traffic to the VPN server, but outgoing traffic was going from a different IP/range/port.

Thanks for the help!
