I recently re-installed Windows 2000 pro. after the re-install I get a screen at boot asking me to choose from Windows 2000 or Windows 2000. I have only one copy of Win 2K installed. How do I get rid of this screen and boot directly into my O/S. Thanks. jmtjet.

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Starup and Recovery

This might seem lengthy but it is the best solution. Follow these steps. start, run, cmd, attrib boot.ini -s -h -r -a, edit boot.ini

It should look something like this depending on your system:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

**Just delete the line referring to your obsolete 2000 installation. (hint-it's the one that isn't listed as the default) Save your settings and exit.

Reboot the system and presto it's all gone.

Thank for the replies-problem is solved.
