Hi all,
I am running win 2k pro sp3 with a DAT drive, I can perform manual backups with the start/programs/accessories/system tools/Backup no problem. But when I try to schedule it, the backup does not run and I get 'could not start' in the Scheduled Tasks Status column.

Does anyone know why? And more importantly how to sort it out as this is incredabily inconvenient for me....

Thanks in advance...
C.

First check out the scheduled tasks log by going into the control panel -> Scheduled tasks, click on advance up on the file menu and click on view log:

This will give you the next indication of what you need to fix in order to get the scheduler going. Also when running scheduled tasks make sure the username and password are correct for the job you are running. Post the error or msg and you will receive more help. You can also check to make sure the AT service is set to system in the advanced tab and that it is running. If it isn't running then you will see a start using task manager under the advanced tab.

Were you using a new tape? If that is the case, did you prepare the tape to be ready for backups? A+, MCP, CCNA

The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:

Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.
