Win 2000 shutdown problem

Anyone have any good sources on W2K shutdown problems. When I select shutdown everything that happens is normal, except that when the black screen appears and it should power down, I have a fashing cursor in the upper right and it goes no furter. I depress the power button for 6-7 seconds to power down..

There are a number of things that can cause this. A open GL screensaver,anti-virus checking floppy on shutdown, Direct CD from roxio.
The list goes on.

what is your latest service pack.
if you havn't updated your service pack make sure you go to the microsoft update page.

I've had this problem to. It turned out to be (As someone already suggested) the version of Direct CD. Upgraded to version 3.xx and the problem was fixed.
