When booting my Win 2K Pro system, it completes the initial startup sequence and then shuts down and starts the boot cycle before my desktop loads. It keeps doing this in a loop. It also does this when attempting to boot in Safe Mode. I've tried to startup with last know good config as well. No luck. Last error I got was that the hardware monitor detected an error. Then I got a series of missing .dll's. Now it's just stuck in the startup loop. Is there anything I can look for short of reinstalling OS?

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to reinstall the OS to run a repair.

pop in the other cd and going the the install options there is a repair windows option.

All your data and info should be the same, you just need to reinstall the Service paks after that.

I know this is after the horse has bolted but when your system is running again untick the reboot on system failure this will meen if you have another problem at some time you should see the windows blue screen of death with the reason for the crash - you could then at least search for the problem
