I just loaded Win 98 onto a Toshiba 2805 Satellite laptop only to lose detection of my moniter, modem, comm ports, and DVD drive. Does XP do a better job of detecting drivers? My system was previously running Win 00, or Millenium, could that be part of the problem?

You will need to go to the toshiba website and download the driver pack, or drivers for each of the components that aren't working.

XP has more device drivers included but it will depend on the age of the machine as to wether it supports all the devices.

Again any drivers you need should be available from their site or BBS (If they still have it running)
