Does anyone know of a Pop-Up blocker that I can install on my XPe Servers?? I am publishing a desktop to about 250 users and they ALL want a pop up blocker... It would help a lot!
W2K Server
Citrix FR 2 and 3
Windows SP 3
If the server is locked down so users can't install software (including spyware & malware) then unwanted popups won't be a problem. Microsoft is adding this feature (pop-up blocker) to the next IE, which is part of Windows XP SP2 so you might want to check that out.
I favor not installing any 3rd party software that is not absolutely essential, as many problems can be avoided by proper system setup.
What I was trying to say is that most of these annoying pop-ups are generated because there is spyware/malware installed on a computer. If you prevent users from installing such software (by locking down the system) then the pop-ups won't happen in the first place.
If users don't have write permission to the Root of the hard drive, Program Files or System directories then you shouldn't have a problem.
On our TS environment users are very restricted with no permission. However, this does not stop spyware from getting installed. Our biggest problem is a spyware keeps getting installed that does not work and displays a debug error rather than a pop-up that confuses the users. What a joke.
