I have a customer with an IP500v2 on 9.0 that I will be upgrading this weekend. They currently have 2 combo cards, a phone 2 with PRI card, (3) DIG DCPx30 V2, and an ANALOG POTS16V2. I have enough spare parts to build out their control unit and upgrade it to the right release in my lab. However, I don't have expansion modules to spare. So, my question is, if I upgrade the control unit to 11.0.4 and then on the day of the install, just replace the control unit, will the expansion modules automatically upgrade or will I still have to go through the upgrade wizard and upgrade them manually? These expansion modules are the old off white units. It would save me a bunch of time if I can pre upgrade the control unit and just swap it out the day of the upgrade.

It is my understanding that the old white expansion units would fall under legacy equipment and are not supported (supposed) to work in releases 9.1 and above. I don't have the bulletin any longer, but there's one out there.

If the modules are V2 then they will work:

3. These IP400 variants are still supported on IP Office Release 9.1 and higher

IP400 Trunk and Station Modules supported in IP Office R11.0 FP4:
• Analog trunk 16
• Digital Station V2: 16 and 30 port variants
• Phone V2: 16 and 30 port variants

This is how they show up in manager.

DIG DCPx30 V2

So, I am under the impression that they will work. According to our rep, they will not need to be replaced during the upgrade.

My main questions is whether or not they will upgrade automatically.

They will upgrade automatically once connected to the IP Office.
