I'd rather not upgrade our version of Crystal Reports because of what I've heard about the more expensive lisensing and developer issues, but need to upgrade the OS.

I am running in right now in XP mode under Windows 7.

I am running it ..... Windows 7.

sorry for the typo

What you have been told about licensing issues is a partial truth.

It is true that you cannot compile a crystal report after v8.5. However, there is no need to. You can buy a crystal reports viewer (there are dozens of them, just google it) for $15 per workstation or less. There are even a couple of freeware versions out there.

So get however many developer licenses you need and go from there. And don't let anyone try to sell you Crystal Enterprise/Crystal Server unless you need to publish reports on the web.

Today, I finally needed to install Crystal Reports v10 on our one and only Windows 7 system (64-bit). My initial installation failed. I reinstalled by right-clicking the setup.exe file and choosing, "run as administrator." It now works perfectly. Maybe it will also work for v8.5. Good luck!
