Will a Proxy server help me with this problem?

Hi,
I have a small network at home (UK) that is connected to the internet via ADSL.
I travel internationally a lot and I have a list of about 5 websites that I use regularly.
When I am not in the UK, I need to access these websites and keep my IP address from them.
Can I set up a proxy server (or some other software) at my home office in the uk that I can log into from anywhere in the world, and access these 5 or 6 websites.
The only thing I need to achieve is for the websites to think I am in the UK when I am accessing them.

I could use something like PC-Anywhere to control a PC on my network, but it seems like a pointless waste of bandwidth as the websites I connect to are auto-updating low bandwidth sites.

Will a proxy server enable me to do this? or am I barking up the wrong tree?
IF a proxy won't/can't do this, is there another way?

Thanks in advance for any answers.
PS all my hardware is Windows XP based.

You need an ANONYMOUS proxy server, which is definetly will not be on your PC.

A simple solution, is to use anonymous web surfing sites:

Use the following link, It has an IP that is in UK. (It should not be changing IPs):

Once you entered the website, put in the address bar (inside the web page) the website you want.

To make sure that it is in UK, type in it: (in the proogle web page's address field). Once you are sure its in UK, enter the websites you want.

Please, DO NOT ABUSE this information, BE positive.
