Hello,

we have an IP500v2 running v9.1 with one 4412 and a bunch of 5410 phones, we are looking to upgrade it to release 12 i was wondering if this model of phones still work with the new release.

Thank you.

officially the don't work since somewhere around R9 and maybe it is time to let them die, especially the 4400's.
On the other hand, it is still the same digital interface so unlikely that they stop working but maybe they have some bugs like the time not being correct or similar like the 5400 series has. 4400's though need a lot of power compared to the rest of the phones to light up all their LED's

Hey Westi,

I know the "Official" answer, but its hard to convince someone to invest and change 30 phones (10k$) when you are upgrading to solve an unrelated issue.
More so when he likes his 5400's :D

I know, my wife told me to rip out the 9508 when I installed it in our kitchen because she preferred the gray over the black. You see all the dust on it and the 5410 is better for that.:)
I stay away from the R12 for now until the bugs are out, even though it seems like a 11.2 more than a 12 as there are no real features in it.

5410s work on R11 although not supported - not sure about R12.

I know,

But will run Linux app server for VM PRO, so kinda forced to go R12...
Even if new.

You can have VMPro and the IPO at different versions. But it probably won't make much difference with the 5410s. They started having issues with time display around R10. If I remember right the 4400s needed to be on a DS module because the base cards wouldn't supply enough power.

Linux App servers are around for a long time so the only reason for you to go R12 is if you want RockyLinux instead of CentOS

Try it out and let us know if they work

CentOS is going EOL, that is why i am more prone to go with r12, also foreseeing an update in the future so might as well go directly to r12 and save the double upgrade headache.
Looking through the white paper of R12 i see the 5410 and 5420on the list so my guess is that they still work :)
