PS> this is not my 1st post! My old a/c, 'present' seems to have hung!

Strange problem with an XP installation, regular, wierd slowdowns, especially when right-clicking files or deleting them etc.

I've installed a new XP in the same box which is running fine. Tried installing SP2, optimizing HD's, moving the cache to another drive, disabling antivirus in the old install but made no difference. Would like to fix it as I have tons of software to reinstall if I can't!

Anyone seen anything like it?

Thanks

Bill.

. GoBack installed?
Uninstall.

. PGP privacy installed?
Either enable it, or uninstall.

Thanks bcastner, neither of those installed, I'll have a look through that enourmous thread!!

I'm a little confused as to where you are with this. You said you "...installed a new XP in the same box which is running fine." So are we fixing the box - which seems to be running fine - or are we fixing that copy of XP?

If the issue is you are trying to keep the CDs/licenses/PCs together for legal purposes, I can understand your concern - as long as you have X number of PCs and X number of licenses - and X = X, then you are okay.

The box appears to be fine as the new, seperate xp install works ok in it.

However, I would like to get my old install working as there's loads of audio software installed in it that takes forever to install (eg. 6 CD instruments!)
