Partner 509 and Partner Messaging:

Took over an installation for a client and some lines that ring in a few sets are getting hung up. All of a sudden they go off hook then place themselves on hold. This is a single part line and a two line hunt group and only happens on a few sets.

The rest of the sets in a 6 line hunt group do not have this happen to them. They are handled by the AA. These lines that get hung up do not have AA.

The real strange thing is that this only starts to happen every day after 5pm and until about 8a or 9am each morning so I don;t think it is a short on the line.

Pulled mods. the origional installer did not doa good job programming. Funny thing I noticed is that Ext 27 keeps lighting up at the recp. station dss mod. This install was set up for only ext.10-26 then the installer jumped over to 39 - 46 with PM at 33-34-35-36.

I wonder if that is the problem that the ext. numbers or mod. cabinet location is out of place. Never seen problme like this before on Partner got me stumped.

#505 (Hunt Group Extensions)
Make sure only the voicemail extensions are in this hunt group 7 and no other extensions.

Will do. Is there a reason why the exts. jump from 26 to 39. Is it the placement location of the cards in the carrier

It probably has to do with the placement of the modules. Starting from the far left, list the modules in the carrier.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

djtt.
The 509 Processor in the middle slot (slot 0) gives exts 10 thru 26.
The very left hand side of the 5-slot carrier (slot 1) may be set for a 206E, 200E or 400E module. This is allocated to the next 6-ports (exts 27 thru 32). Any card here other than a 308EC module (8-ports) uses up 6-ports of extension numbering. (even an empty slot between modules would seem like a 6-port board as far as extension numbering is concerned. The empty slot between modules is NOT recommended and the system may not work properly with the Messaging module and any additional boards installed to the right of the open slot)

The next slot (slot 2)is the Partner Messaging module, which looks to the system like a 206E module (6-ports) and is assigned for the next 6 exts (33 thru 38). You must have a 4-port license card, since the Partner Messaging Hunt Group 7 programming #505-7 is set up for exts 33, 34, 35, and 36. The Partner Messaging is programmed for the 2,4,or 6 port license card with the ext # starting at the top of the card x33 and going down to x36.

The next slot (slot 3) must be a 308EC 8-port station card which uses exts 39 thru 46. The last slot (slot 4) must be vacant.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Turns out to have been a real bad install and program job from the vendor they replaced me with. They called me back when they could no longer deal with all the problems.

They saved 2,000.00 when they went with him even though Iwas their vendor for 2 years. They got more than 5,000.00 worth of headachs.

I had to dig into poor cabling and line shorts all over the place and rprogram almost all exts. and the AA adn VM's.

Thanks for the help.

BTW was called for an install at a 210 room motel. I assume that Partner can not handle this. Any other product that you would suggest that will not take a lot of training on my part. This is a rush job. I install Nortel MICs but even that platfrom will not be large enough.

I wish I could suggest the Merlin Magix, but it tops out @ 200 ports. If you want to stay in the Avaya family, you would need to jump to the IP Office.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
