Our office in on a MS Server and our website is hosted on apache server out of the office. They route our email to us.
Our email address is the same domain name as the website.
Often in the office I try to bring up our website in my browser and get a can not be found error. The site is online though. People outside the office can view it.

Does anyone have any idea as why this is happening?
I do appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I've got a call in to the admin to make sure, but I do believe they are the same. I did a check of the ip address for the mx record and got the following.

SMTP - 25 220 server.xxx.org Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.3959 ready at Fri, 19 Oct 2007 11:19:24 -0800

I just found out from the admin. Yes they are the same domain name.

Check your local DNS server. If it contains records for the domain name, which it should if your Active Directory domain and your website domain are the same, make sure it has a record for to the public IP address of your website.

The unix box which hosts the website has these records. Do they look correct?

Name server records point to the unix box which is a different host name than the MS box.

3 (A) records

> unix box ip address
domain-name.com > unix box ip address
xxxxmail.domain-name.com > MS box ip address
Also a bunch of sub-domains > unix box ip address

HOw about a proxy server. do you need to add an exception if your browser is trying to resolve name via proxy?
