I have an option 81c (PP4) that has some screwed up cores. I have never seen this before, I have loops 0-15 in core 1 and 16-31 in core 0..? My system utility card reads active core 1 ( but the network cards in this shelf think its core 0), my other system utility card reads stanby core 0 ( the network cards in this shelf think this is core 1). I pulled out a pri card from slot 1 in core 1 and loop 2 went down..? I disabled disx 0 and my conf/tds card in slot 0 of core 1 went down. I thought the system utility cards tell it what core it actually is via the dip switch settings, what else controls what core it is? Do I have cable sin the wrong place? This switch has been like this for years by the way since the cores were upgraded I am assuming. Basically everything seems fine except for the fact that the sys utility display reads the wrong info..and I also have to enable everything manually after an INI..xpec's, supl's,PRI's..etc
Thanks.

The only real way to see what core is active is to look at the CNI cards. If the lights are out on the CNI cards then that is the active Core.

I just took this over, I am pretty sure its been like this since the cardcage upgrade. At first I thought it was just a lable problem, very easy, swap lables.. but then I seen the system utility diplay and that screwed me all up.
Yep, I have one group, so the CNI in the shelf that the utility card displays active core 1 had one light out, the other standby core, core 0, had both lights lit on the cni. LD 135 shows core 1 active and 0 in standy. It's crazy, the cores seem to be in the right place but the network cards think its in the other core. My head hurts, it's so confusing..lol
What will happen if I just swap utility cards..maybe they are simply in the wrong place? But that doesnt make sense either.
Thanks again.

There is a dip switch on the System Utility card that selects what Core they are.

Yes, I know about the dip switch, I have done quite a few card cage upgrades, thats why I am so confused, I thought that dip switch is the only thing that controls what core it is. This does not seem to be the case though. I think I am going to swap the sys utility card and see if anything blows up.

There are settings on the 3PE cards also. Could be an error in the CFN also.

Oh yeah..3pe, I'll check that to, thanks. CFN error, not to sure about that, what would that possibly be? I think it has to be a hardware error somewhere. I don't think I have ever come accross such a strange problem before. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, doubt it is a configuration error, but they could have gotten the extender programming hosed up. Just a thought. That part of the programming is a little confusing. More than likely a hardware error.

Just pull the offline sutl card and look at it. If it's optioned correctly I would suspect 3pe. I would verify cabling as well.

From memory I think the DIP Switches on the System Utility Card
also defines whether its a Dual or Single CPU

Cheers!!
