HI

i know how to edit the registry BUT dont remember in wich folder is located and the name of the file name .(is has been a long time since i did this )
thanks in advance for your help

Rob

An easy way is just go to Run, type "REGEDIT" and hit enter, bang, there i is. tr

you registry can be found in the files SYSTEM.DAT and USER.DAT. do not in any way move, rename, delete, or alter the contents of these files without backing 'em up first. use any registry editor to edit your registry and one already available in your OS is the one suggested by gonzo. and carrr gave a link on how to backup you registry.

But remember Windows creates its own registry backups anyhow - one on the first boot of each day, up to a default maximum of 5, so if you mess up, and assuming you havn't installed anything that day or otherwise made important changes, you can restart in MS-DOS and type the following at the prompt:
scanreg/restore
This will present you with a list of the 5 previous backups, select the one created that day and OK it. Done.
You can also force backups at will this way by typing at the C:\WINDOWS prompt the following:
scanreg/backup
There will be no confirmation, but there will be a flurry of HDD activity and the prompt will eventually return. This indicates the backup is complete.
