Hi

Anyone know of a good Wi-Fi SIP phone (not spectralink) that works with the IPO *including* transfer of calls!?
I mean proper WiFi, not a DECT SIP phone.

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

i think you will find many SIP phones will now work on the IPO with a third party endpoint licence.

Hiya

yes I have got all sorts of 3rd party devices working, but only 1 can transfer calls, all the rest simply put the caller on hold and then cut off when hung up. Not ideal!

I am interested in hearing of other's experiences!

thats the issue with wifi phones.

you need to reduce the beacon rate on your AP if you can but dont set it too low so the phone no longer talks to the switch due to loss of connection.

if you increase the beacon rate from say 5ms 100ms you can double the battery life.

Thanks Jeff...and will these Unidata phone transfer successfully?

dave - you might also find Hitachi Cable phones work OK too. I have the IP5000 and works great on 3CX / Asterisk / External VoIP provider. never tried it on an IPO tbh.

Thanks hairless - from what I have seen it is the IPO that is the problem! Ihave had other devices working great on a 3CX, but they just will not transfer calls on the IPO. (apart from a Yealink corded phone)

Thanks jeff.
We are on R6 here on our in house switch (still the trial version though)
If you can let me know how you get on that would be great.
In the meantime, I may buy one to play with!

Cheers

I've got a couple of Unidata WPU-7700's working at a client site and they work fine, call transfer no problem. But they look and feel a bit cheap. They are made in Korea and the english translation leaves a little to be desired as well. When you save any new setting instead of saying "please wait" it says "please wait a while". but they work well. Also tried the Cisco (for Cisco replace with Linksys) WIP310 but they currently drop calls when moving between AP's but Cisco say a new version of firmware will be out next month.

I'm waiting on a couple of Polycom Spectralink 8002 which I expect to be the best we've tried so far and they aren't priced too badly. I'll let you know how they go in the next couple of weeks or so

P.S. I know you said "not Spectralink" but these handsets are SIP2.0 and don't require the AVPP.

Thanks Chedzz, thats good info, I may try a Unidata !

@Chedzz

Hiya

bought a Unidata WPU-7700, and cannot get it to transfer calls, IPO rejects the REFER with a method not supported.
What did you do to get these to transfer?
I cannot find any other settings!

Cheers
