I paste .doc text into a quark 6.5 ad and it went haywire, changed & symbol to and, and created several typos.????

has this ever happened to you? Why?

It's to do with character encodings and MS own special way of making anything simple different and more complex than anyone else does.
I often see it with Word documents.

Best bet is to save the Word document as a text file with symbol conversions option checked. Then use that text file in the Quark document.

I get my users to open the Word job in TextEdit and then copy and paste it across.

It is quicker. They don't need any of the Word styling so when that is lost it doesn't matter.

Best wishes

Michael

The problem with that is that you stand a good chance of getting junk characters in there.

Far safer to save from Word as a text file. There is an option that converts characters to their 'safe' equivalents.
