I issue a broadcast ping from the router to a particular subnet that has NT servers or workstations on it, and all I see a response from is the router interfaces. I can issue a show arp command and find all the devices that were updated to the arp table. Does anyone have an idea why NT machines will not respond? Thanks for any informational that you can provide.

Are you seeing a response from an etherent or serial interface. Route once; switch many

These are all ethernet interfaces. The devices are on either 100 or 1000 Mb connections and on either a 4006, 5500, or 6500 catalyst switch.

Microsoft NT does not respond to broadcast pings. There is an ambiguity in the RFC and MS decided that it would be safer not to respond (due to flood pings, etc).
