Dear all,

I have Norton Antivirus Server and some client run with SAV Client. (about 20 clients)

But, when I update the NAV Server. Not all client become updated. I installed that client with the same way for all. (about 2 clients still at the same old virus def)

Maybe somebody could tell me why, and how to solve it.

Thank's in advance

Your NAV 7.x server does not support SAV 8.x clients. Upgrade your server to 8.x. 8.x can support 7.x but not the other way around.

At server, I use Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 8.00.9374

At Client, I use the same Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 8.00.9374 (but managed to server)

Maybe I miss something? or can I use SSC for update manualy client to server virus def.

Thank's in advance.

It's possible that for some reason the client didn't get the policy that is supposed to filter down from the server.

Two things to try:
1. Set it so that the client can update manually. If they can get definitions by updating manually then you can go on to server configuration from there. Can also tell you during update where it's trying to get the definitions from (either through the Internet or through the Internal Live Update server if you set it up that way)

2. Copy the GRC.dat file over once again from the server to the client. Instructions are in the manual as to what file to copy and where (depends on what OS your client is running.

netwalker1,

Go through the options in the Symantec System Center (SSC) to configure your clients to use the Internal Live Update feature. You also should set up the Live Update Administration Utility so that all your stuff is downloaded in one central location. That way you only have one connection going out to the Internet to collect updates.

Then you point your clients to update from either/both the Server or Live Update. I usually time my updates in the morning after my server has already updated itself. Seems like the newest version depends on the server being updated before the clients are.

Aside from getting the details from the manual (which should also be available online should you need it at Symantec's web site), it's a good idea to go through and check out each and every option in the SSC manually to see what's available to you. You can do everything from Live Update options to what you need to do when a virus is detected.

Hope that helps.

I solved it , I found an article for this ,,,
I found that when updating the server using the intellegent updater , it doesn't update the clints ,,
so I download the .vxd updater , and it worked fine ,,

Thanks for your help .
