Friends,
I normally do logos and other Illustrations layed out in Illustrator and later placed in InDesign as native, eps or pdf
I am having a problem with InDesign when it comes to outputting Black when the swatch is at 100%.
Any 'Black Object' I have created in InDesign will overprint but any other design with Black placed from Illustrator, CorelDraw, EPS or PDF will not overprint, yet the prefs have overprint checked.
Am laying out a school directory with logos designed in Illustrator.
Any help will save a lot of time!

In the print window, under Graphics, try selecting "send all data" in the "send data" of the images drop down. On the Advanced tab of the print window, set Transparency Flattener to High.

You might also try turning color management off if it's enabled.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I will try out your advice next time I output.

However, I made a new swatch based on C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=100, and called it 'Blak'.

I went on to apply 'Blak' in text on a green background which I later copied and now applied 'Black'. The former did not overprint. Why? Has K siezed to be black or vice versa? In Illustrator, K=100 will overprint.

'Blak' is the same black that comes from the other files (ai, pdf,...) when you place in InDesign.

Please help.

You might try selecting the black object and opening the attributes window. Then clcik the "overprint fill" box.

As for making the black test, you could have selected "text as black" in the print dialogue.

Depending on what your printing to and the paper, there's a possibility that you would have to adjust trapping, but that would be dependent on the specific output device and paper.

You are so baaaad! And am so siiiiiily!
I don't know how I had forgoten about that pallete. I last used that pallet several years back. I did not even think about it.
I used the Attribute pallet in both Illy and Indy and it was perfect. All is well.
Thanks for making my day.

Do you use CorelDraw? Some logos were designed in Corel and are having gradient fills which will not display correctly when opened in Illy, yet I have to overprint the black fill. Am not good at Corel and I am going to try the Corel forum

But any quick help could be welcome.

Thank you in advance.
