If you have pulled your hair out! Here it is

Windows XP Home Edition. The backup program is found on the Windows XP Home Edition CD in the Valueadd folder.

To manually install Backup
1.
Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file in the following location on the Windows XP Home Edition CD to start a wizard that installs Backup:

CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

2.
When the wizard is complete, click Finish.

AAAAARRRRGHHH My backup will not go to the disk drive! does this mean that it has to be done on floppy disks??

The backup utility that comes with XP home does not allow you to backup to a disk. You have to backup to another location like your hard drive, then burn it to a CD. It will restore from a CD.
