Why no Java or ActiveX in WebExamples.war?

My posts are getting no responses, which makes me wonder just how off-base I am! Still, I'll try once more.

There is a WebExamples.war file supplied with CE9. I can drop it into a web server and it seems to work just fine.

BUT the reports are all shown in the HTML (zero-client) viewer. Why aren't the Java or ActiveX viewers illustrated? Is it because they can only be used on the "special" web server that was configured during the installation of CE9?

Any clues would be appreciated - even if only to tell me where to go to read the basics!

Thanks,
Nick

Hi,
If I read the docs right, there is no Java or ActiveX viewer for use by CE9 - It has been replaced ( at least by default, with no custom calling code) by a new DHTML viewer. I have not tested CE9 yet to see if the other and, IMHO, better, viewers are still avalible ).

Thank you. That is the conclusion I was coming to, but it's nice to have it confirmed.

However, the other viewers DO seem to be available if you go directly to the machine that CE9 was installed on, using a URL like for example. It's odd that there seems to be no way to get it to work from other web servers.

However, DHTML, while not as nice as Java or ActiveX, will do for now.

Thanks again,
Nick
