why is white in photoshop printing beige?

I have photoshop 6.0 My background of my image is white. I've never had this problem before but when I print out the image I get beige where the white was. Any white image prints out beige. Can you tell me what is going on? (This is very frustrating. . .I'm trying to get these bookmarks done and my last step is getting it to print correctly - after working on them for 4 days I am going nuts!)

You need to turn off color correction or do some studying on collor correction. If you don't really know how to use it, it can really mess things up.

How do you know that it's really white?

Got the problem figured out somewhat. I used the Adobe thing for the gamma correction. Then, I changed my printing preferences to color management - perceptual . . .and that works for my printer. At Office Max, I had to save the file as adobe pdf since they are using CS and the coloring scheme is not the same. I have a feeling that the 6.0 color scheme is wacky, but I'm can't verify that.

Other than that. I know that when I start a blank doc with a white background and print it out and it comes out beige there is something wrong. But all is well now. I will just save my docs as pdf to preserve color.

TURN OFF COLOR MANAGING!!!

Your document is using embedded color. You will comtinue to have color problems with this and pdf will not always solve the problem. ICC is used for pros working in teams or on multi-platforms, you really don't need it on.

You probably need to tell the printer driver not to use its own color management. If you can't do that, you need to tell Photoshop to let the printer do the color management.
