Why is this soooo slow

i got an athlon 1200 mhz with win XP, and it takes 2 minutes to open the start menu when i startup, after the 2 minutes everything goes well...

can somebody tell me why ?

Do you have an antivirus program running or anything else running at startup?

What sort of internet connection does it have? Is it searching for a connection?

I,m using a dsl connection and Norton antivirus.

What else should I do ?

I bet you have a network card installed??

Set you TCP/IP for your network card to:
192.168.0.1
Submask: 255.255.255.0

That sure cure it!

Check to see if Norton Antivirus is set to scan something at startup.
