I've inserted the Web Counter on my page
and it doesn't show up in preview or when
i actually place it on the internet.
Thanks for any help.......

Please tell us a little bit more...

I assume that when you say Web Counter you are describing a web page hit counter, correct?

Is this the Hit Counter component found on the FrontPage Insert ¦ Component menu or is this a CGI hit counter?

Most of the time when a CGI hit counter doesn't work it is either because the path to the CGI-Bin folder isn't accurate, the CGI script (applet) is not located in that directory or the file permissions are not properly set.

Let us know.
Boxplan

thanks for replying Boxplan.
I am talking about the Hit Counter component
you're suppose to be able to add by Insert/component/
Hit counter. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your web server running FrontPage server extensions?

Boxplan

I just found out my server doesn't run
Frontpage extentions.
I don't know any other way.
Do you?

There are many hit counters available via the web. Your server may actually have a web counter avail. Try <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> or <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> can also find many differant scripts at <A HREF=" TARGET="_new">

Hope these help

John Vogel
johnvogel@homepage.com
<a href= FreeDSL Service
[To a get FREE DSL Modem WITH FREE DSL Unlimited Internet Connection click the above link :)]

As John Vogle suggested, check with your web server. Counters are pretty common and they might have one. Don't pay any money though. Another source, in addition to the ones already mentioned: <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> fact that there are a number of web hosts out there that don't offer FronPage extensions is a good reason not to become completely reliant on FrontPage features.

Let us know how you come out.

Boxplan

Thanks so much for responding. I'll get a hold
of my server and find out.

I cannot get the Frontpage 2000 hit counter to reset to a specified number. After I save the revised page it "defaults " to 1 but never increments.Server does FP2000 extensions. Why will hit counter not reset to specified number?
