Why is my report not displaying LONG datatypes?

I have one report, which is displaying everything correctly but now I realize that this other report is not displaying this particular field "Description" which is a LONG datatype. Its displaying the first letter but thats all.
I can't seem to find anything different with these 2 fields.

cr 7.0 up to 8.5
win2000 and xp

did u try increasing the report field's length?

That's an old version of Crystal, which predates SQL Server 2000 and may be part of the problem. It's basically 5 versions old.

Right click the field and select Format Field->Can Grow

If this doesn't resolve, perhaps changing the connectivity type will help, you should be using the CR ODBC or Direct Connect.

Otherwise you might create a Viwew in SQL Server 2000 and cast it as a varchar.
