Lately I have been seeing some strange behavior on our RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3. The network map shows the server (or at least the snmp queries to it) going down for short periods time at irregular intervals.

In trying to track it down, I looked at the routing with netstat -r and saw the following line::

adsl-67-125-217- GOL UGHW 1 873 en2 1500 -

where GOL is our Internet router (not the WAN router where we do have one Netopia SDSL router connecting).

On another occasion I saw a similar line, but instead of the adsl entry there was:

dns-rs2.bgtmo.ip.

Does anyone know how to find the IP addresses associated with these entries, so I can block their access at the router?

Thanks

And, if you use [tt]netstat -nr[/tt] it will show you same information, but using IP numbers not names...

I hope it works...

Thanks for the response. I didn't try nslookup, but netstat -nr did indeed show the IP addresses. (I didn't recognize them by name, but they are my ISP's primary and secondary name servers.
