I have a new Okidata 182 printer connected to a new Gateway computer running windows XP Pro and a parrallel connection. The printer worked fine when I first set it up now it has started printing about 2 lines of gibberish when I try to print a test page. What could be wrong? The Okidata site is absolutely NO help. I thought about reloading the print drivers but Okidata doesn't have them available at their site, only a note that says it's included with Win XP. HELP!

sounds like a memeory overflow. how big of a file are you printing? If it is too big for the printer try printing multipul sections one at a time. and don't send a lot of jobs all at once.

Can be printer setup got corrupted. Can be cables loose. Can be parallel port munged. Can be drivers.
Try getting into DOS at bootup and do a dir > prn. This should answer several of the possibilites. That is , if you can find a DOS bootable floppy. Ed Fair

Was this machine on a network with internet connection?
It may be related to the recent Bugbear virus that caused printers to print ambiguous / garbled pages

Is there any OKI software that installs? Try unistalling / reinstalling that and the XP driver.

Just to confirm - it has worked in XP before?

The cable is bi-directional?

No scanners, switching boxes, etc... connected?
