I'm using red hat Linux and a DNS linux book keeps talking about a ndc command but my Linux does not seem to have one.

Any ideas Mark

I've seen ndc when using BIND on BSD, but not on Linux.

What are you trying to do?

BIND has an ndc command. If you're sure BIND is installed, make sure your path is set correctly. What does locate ndc say?? Henrik Morsing

Check out the command rndc. You will have to generate a hash number and put it into your named.conf file before you can use it.

As I known, ndc is to control named ,such as start stop ...
not necessary

True, though all books that I know of do refer to it, and people who are starting with Linux may think it necessary and so may be a bit alarmed if they cannot find it.

Regards.
