Why does my modem auto d/c as soon as it verifys user name and password when they are correct and work perfectly fine on another pc?
It is a 56k swannsmart internal modem with a connexant chip.
No coflicts are shown.

Could be a couple of things...

Maybe you've got the wrong protocols enabled? Usually only TCP/IP should be required. Check the other DUN setup parameters and compare with the other PC that works ok.

Are you using the same phone socket as the other PC? If not, then try temporarily moving the computer to the same location as the one that works, and try it from there. This would eliminate any phone line/connection box problems. A poor signal from the Telco might cause this sort of problem.

1. did u try to disable the "enable error correction" option in the settings of the modem? (modem --> properties --> connection --> advanced)
2. did u delete "windows family" from network settings and put "client 4 microsoft networks" as the primary domain logon domain? (control panel --> network)
3. did u try to type in the dns of ur provider?
4. did u try to deseleted the option "use ip header compression"?
