I have this game called "Morrowind. I used to have a 64 mb video card But the game was very choppy. My friend had the same problem with his Morrowind, Then he got a 112mbvideo card. After this his game became a lot more smooth and the graphics improved. I decided to det myself a new video card. i bought a GeForce fx 2500, 256Mb. I installed it, no problem. When i turned on the game the graphics improved a lot, But the game is still just as choppy. The computer tech who sold it to me said this video card should make the gameplay at its best performance, especially when Morrowind was made in 2002. But the gameplay it is still very choppy, and my friend's game is much smoother when he has a worse video card tham me and his graphics are as good as mine. I don't really undestand why. I think it might be my processor, It is 660mhz. My friend has 780mhz. and we both have 256 mb of ram. So what is the cause of this problem and how can i fix it,and improve my gaming speed??????????

Too many variables at play here to give a definitive answer. 256MB on the card you mentioned is completely pointless, tie that into, most likely a 2X AGP port on your motherboard, the slow processor and slow fsb.....

Also what res, detail etc are you playing the game at?

paul172 is correct.
On a machine of this age there are so many bottlenecks, places in the PC where the data is restricted.
The CPU is definately one, memory will also be another, as will be the older motherboard chipset.

Do you mean you have a 256mb FX5200? this amount of memory fitted to a slow graphics card (FX5200) is nothing more than a sales gimmick!

This graphics processor is simply not powerful enough to ever come close to using even half this amount, it's GPU cannot produce enough frames at a high enough resolution that it would ever require this large amount of temporary memory storage.

It's only very powerful graphics cards that are capable of producing this amount of information that ever come close to using a full 256mb of installed ram.

Looks like it might be time for a new PC

Because you didn't buy an awesome video card. You bought a very weak gpu loaded with a lot of memory to give it but a mere illusion of being fast.
