Why can't i hear any sound 3

when ever i want to listen to anything it will play, but with no sound. my computer was running really slow so i put in the win98SE cd in to start over. it worked pretty good except for the sound issues

hope someone can help me.

its jesse again,

i don't know whats wronge with my cd drive.....when ever i stick a cd into the drive to listen to it, it says that its playing but i have no sound. i can here stuff from different websites and stuff but i can't here anything from a cd.
 
Hola, again...

under W98 you need a cable (4 pin usually has only 3 wires - one white one red and a black ground wire) running from the CD drive to the Motherboard's CD Audio input jack, usually marked as CD input and usually black in color...
