Why can't I clear my temporary internet files

My friend asked me to post...

I bring up IE go to tools ...internet options...delete temporary files....It don't delete them

I also want to clear my Web start cache

Bring up Java web start....click file....preferences option....click on advanced tab...in application folder click on clear folder.

I have done this operation in the past and it worked but now nothing happens.

Could something be protecting this from deleteing???

He ran spybot search and destroy and it fixed the problem... go figure!
