I log on as SPS administrator, but still can not create a document workspace on team site.

Personal site is fine.

Why?

Hello,

This definately sounds like a user-rights problem. The SPS administrator account you are using, is it an account with Administrator rights just in SharePoint or does it have Admnistrator rights on the physical server? Depending on how the team site is inheriting rights or using unique permissions might be a part of the problem.

Can you access the team site at all? is it just when you try and create the document workspace it gives you the access denied?

Regards,
Thomas

Thanks, Thomas.
I can access and modify the team portal. This error only occurs when I try to create document workspace.

What do you mean physical server? We use small server farm, including a web server and a SQL server 2000. Are you saying the administrator should also have rights to SQL?

Thanks again.

Hello,

No the SharePoint Administrator should not have access to the SQL server.

I am having the same setup as you have with the front end webserver and the backend SQL. My windows useraccount is an administrator of ALL my servers, so I never have to deal with any user-rights within SharePoint since that account is granted full rights on the servers I can simply just create a workspace where ever I want without having to add my account in SharePoint. So that is why I wondered about the Admin user rights.

Have you checked the Team sites user-rights so that your SPS administrator account really have Administrator rights on it to, and just not on the Portal. Check so that the account also is a site collection administrator.

Regards,
Thomas
