Why aren't new table fields available on existing forms?

I am a new MSAccess (A2k) user, so this question is pretty simple. I have a bunch of tables created, yada yada. Whenever I create forms I usually use the wizard to create them. So the wizard asks you which fields from which tables you want to include on the form.

Now I've got my form created, but I discover that I need to add a new field to an existing table. I add the field and save the changes to the table. I want to include this field on the existing form.

Now, say I open the form and insert a Text box. When I open the Text Box's properties and try to choose the Control Source, the new field isn't listed as one of my choices.

So how do I get this new field onto the form?

Thanks for any help.

It depends on the form's Record Source property. If this property was set to a SQL statement, then it might need to be modified to include your new fields. (Or simply changed to the name of the table you are using - that way you don't need to change the record source each time you add a new field to the table)

When you choose fields from more than one table in the Form Wizard, the wizard automatically creates a record source consisting of a SQL statement. One way to get around this is to create a query that contains all the fields you need (or all fields using *) and then use the query as the Record source for the form.

In Form Design view - Click Edit | Select Form. Then, View | Properties. Take a look at the Record Source property for the form & that should tell you a lot about what's going on....

Ah, sweet relief. Thank you so much for helping me solve that problem. I did not know that the Wizard writes a SQL statement when you choose fields from many different tables. A quick look at the Record Source properties of my form explained it all. Again thanks, so much.

All Systems Go.
