Is there a third party software or even a way of tell if anyone (even admins) have been reading my e-mails?

Thanks in advance

The event logs would show if an account other than the main account accessed your mailbox, but you can also see those entries if you have folders shared out and someone accesses them.

Never have any expectation of privacy on a company server, and never mix personal and profession use - this is a foolproof policy for protecting your private life.

Probably, but you shouldnt have emails on a company address that admins arnt aloud to see.

There's one way but I don't think it's every effective... You can start a bad rumour and wait to see who starts gossiping around the water cooler...

I would have to strongly disagree with this. For starters you can just take HR information as an example.

Admins shoud not be reading a person's email unless directed to do so by upper management and with the blessing of either the Small Business owner or HR department for larger orgs.

It is absolutley true that one should not assume Privacy where personal matters are concerned, however confidentiality of sensitive company information is a whole other story.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thanks, but come on guys this is serious. I chose an unfortunate subject title that sugests that this is about my email when infact it is not. I have been asked to investigate this by my IT Director, as there are company critical e-mails going between Directors that he thinks are being browsed.

So my questio still stands, is there a way to monitor any arbitary browsing.

No, instead focus ont he permissions to see who HAS access.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

I would agree with the above - its time to audit permissions on the mailboxes and ratchet them down to the minimum neccesary.

Other than that, monitoring the logins at the console. You could also visit every machine and see if someone has something other than their personal folders open.

Check the permissions first but if there is still a question look at the logins. David
