We have a barely less than 1 year old Micros 3700 / Res 3000 system.
Turns out we just don't like it.
We're switching to a register/swipe machine instead.
Now I need to figure out exactly what to do with what we have.
I've heard that Micros licensing is set up to deliberately discourage resale of their systems.
I'm wondering if I should try to resell the system as a whole, piece it out as some of the parts seem to be fairly spendy, or just cannibalize it for future projects.
Here is what we have:

I realize that some things - like the POS software itself, have little to no value due to the licensing.
Are there freeware POS systems that I could load on to the Micros hardware? If so, it's possible I could redeploy this at a future location.
Is it possible to retask the WS4 thin client?
I could make decent use of it as an HR kiosk or Time & Attendance kiosk if I could load some free/low cost software on it.
We spent about 6K on the system, but once I deduct the professional service fees, that leaves me at about 4K.
If I could recover half of that, I'd just sell the whole thing.
If it's not realistic to get anywhere near that, then I'll probably look into retasking.
