Hello there,

My questions are very simple :p

- i would like to find out real time (or from a log file) who is calling to my system (i mean to find out the phone number), on which trunk, VDN and for how much time is talking;

- i also would like to find out (real time) who (which extension or agent) is calling an outside number and which is that number;

Thanks a lot.

System configuration: G650 MediaGateway, S8700 MediaServer, ASA 3.0.8

Nope i have a CMS...but i cannot find those information...

As the CMS is intended to store summary ACD data rather than the call by call details, the data you are after is not available in a real-time automatic refreshing format or in a simple log file.

There are few options available to you on the CMS. If you call volume is less than 400 ACD measured calls per 20 minute period, you could enable call records in Data Storage Allocation. The collected data to a maximum of 5000 records, stored on a FIFO basis is available via the call record report. This data is only available after the call has completed. If you take more than 400 ACD measured calls in a 20 minute period then External Call History will have to be used however this call by call data is packaged up every half hour or so and will have to be processed on a external server of your design or by Operational Analyst or Nice Analyser. This by all means is not real-time or a cheap ready to go solution.

There is also agent trace however the use of this should be limited as it does have an impact on the performance of the CMS system. If you have a SunBlade 100/150 you should limit the number of traced agents to about 100. On a SUN V880/V890 it is possible to trace a maximum 400 agents across all ACD's connected to the CMS in question.

The real-time trunk group report will show some details but does not show the inbound or outbound phone numbers.

Call Detail Records (CDR) from the S8700 again is not real-time rather a record is sent to a Call Loging server of your own design or choice when the call has completed so does not show active calls.

Thanks for your answer. Ok let's say that i do not want a real time report for the infos i mentioned (incoming, outgoing phone numbers). How would i display the log entries? which is the command?

vwal13,

get a decent call accounting software. cms is not designed for collecting and storing that kind of data, so it does it poor at its best.

Microcall or Tapit are fairly inexpensive ($1500+) and easy to implement via IP on a server or a spare PC...

Thanks,
CJH
