hey, i've been working on my laptop and all of a sudden, the screen started flickering and now there is a white stripe down the center (just off center) of my monitor. i've been forced to use just one side or the other, since i can't see anything that's behind the white stripe.

i turned the comp off, and upon starting again, the stripe isn't there, but after about a minute it starts flickering again and turns almost solid...save for a few small flickers.

i haven't experienced this before...any ideas? i'm probably gonna have to take it to somewhere to troubleshoot/fix the problem, but since i have no idea what's going on, i could get taken...like, "hey, you need a new flux capacitor and it's $500 dollars"...

help!

Connect an external monitor to the notbook and see if you get the stripe on it too. If you do then sounds like your video card. Check for new drivers. If the stripe is not on the external monitor your monitor may be going bad.

I'm wondering if a cable has worked it's way loose inside the laptop...

I think he meant he was using the laptop as normal, not changing parts.
