Whisper Paging with IP 4600 series phones

I have a customer who is migrating from a Merlin Legend to a Definity system. They have used a Merlin feature called "barge-in" to communicate important message when users are already on the phone and would like similar functionality now. However, they are using IP 4600 series phones and the documentation for whisper paging in the Definity system indicates that "Users must have 6400-, 7400-, 8400-, or 9400-series DCP (digital) phones."

Has anyone heard of whisper paging feature being extended to IP phones in the near future? IS there another feature like this IP phones can use?
 
whisper paging is working on the 46xx models already, given that you have cm2 software.
 
We have loaded release 2.1.1 load 414 software on this system and whisper paging is not working on the 46xx IP phones. The 2.1 document posted by Avaya in June 2004 specifically excludes mention of 46xx series sets in its Feature Description of Whisper Paging.

Will this feature be supported in the future?

i can only shrug. i tested this feature myself on the s8300 cm2.0.1 with 4620 and 4602, and it's working okay.
 
Check the COR/COS settings on the phones trying to use Whisper Page - I think it needs attendant privilages.
 
Nope - ignore that!

Just to check - you 're pressing the Whiaper page button, which is giving you dial tone, and then dialling the extension number?
