Hi all. I'm a baby newby to C#. I downloaded C# express 2010 and installed on my laptop with windows 8.1. I tried a demo code from a book cd but it won't run. Keeps giving me errors, and sorry, I didn't write it down.

I'd like to know which version I should get and use in 8.1?

Any help will be appreciated.

This depends on what kind of games you want to develop. C# is a nice way to start, but I suggest you to start and create games in Unity

Thanks dpaul. C# is rather complex and since I haven't done programming in a long time it will take me a bit to absorb all of what I've learned so far.

C# 2010 seems to work on my win 8.1 but I'm wondering if a newer version would work better, if at all.

Also, the demo code I was running that didn't work, I think, is because the texture.jpg(?) file is not within the reference folder. I believe that's why it won't run. Is there a site I could go to and get texture files to use? Or a place where I can try and make my own? The demo is to make triangles that move around when certain keys are pressed and one triangle becomes translucent. A simple program but the coding is a long file.

Thanks for your help. I will check out the suggested programming software.

Well, you could install visual studio 2013 which I think is the best platform for C# development, this is also what I'm using for c#.
