Ok here is the dilemay, i can have 1 GB of pc2100 ram, or 512 mb of pc2700 ram, which will give me the best overall performance, mostly games, but content creating and databases too

thank you

There's precious little difference in real-world speed between PC2100 and PC2700, and adding more RAM to a WINNT or Linux based system will only make it more responsive and able to perform more tasks simultaneously - especially for the types of application you mention (although probably not so much for the games).

So, IMO, go for the 1Gb! CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Very little appreciable difference (that you'll see) between PC2100 and PC2700.

Big difference between QUALITY ram...and the cheapo.
I'd worry more about matching it to the motherboard maker's recommendations...and the CPU type. Settings and timing matter, too.
OS matters, too...but I'm guessing it'll be 2000 or XP?
But insist on quality.

yes, xp pro, the ram is a local generic actually, but it is good quality, it overclocks well and ive had no problems with it, we buy tons of it here at work and it has been great, it obviously wont overclock like corsair etc, but i tested it against my friends corsair and its not far behind, not enough to make me worry about it

Turn most of the special effects off that WinXP has and you will not need much RAM. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.
