which soft phone to use on R11 1

I know we have talked about this before, but I can't find the previous thread. I want to setup remote soft phone users on IP Office R11. I understand in need remote worker license or power user license, but which software to download? is it the latest IP Office Soft Console software? I want to use the phones without having to build OneXPortal. Thank you.

so I installed the Workspace client, and we seem to be able to enter the extension number and password, but can do nothing from there. Right now we are just testing it on a local laptop on the network.

When I read the docs, it almost appears to me that if I am running base essentials edition, I don't need a license and can run stand alone, but if I run Preferred or Advanced, then I need at least an office worker license?? does this sound correct?

Look at the table again the stated information is incorrect.

Even with a basic user profile you still need a softphone license. Softphone license does not require Preferred Edition though.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

So as stated previously, and as I told my customer, the softphones do not work with Log Me In. I was unable to find anything that says the soft phone has its own VPN client?? like the 96xx series do. Can anyone comment on it?

I may try to push them to J179 to use as remote phones given the fact that these are home networks and people probably need to connect a phone via wifi.

If you are using a softphone on a PC/Mac, the soft phone does not need the VPN Client.. the VPN client is running on the PC/Mac.

Step 1. Install VPN software on the PC/Mac
Step 2. Connect to the network using the VPN Client
Step 3. Launch the soft phone.
