I want to build my own system geared towards multimedia (video editing) but use it for everything else also. I would like a Pentium 4 chip (unless dual PIII is much better and not much more expensive). What is the best Intel motherboard for either configuration?

How much money you got to spend?

The safe bet for a P4 motherboard is an Asus board, although Giga-byte & MSI both have very comparable performance motherboards. It's your call between intel's 865 & 875 chipsets, the advancements you get in the 875 chipset aren't much, if you can do without ecc ram support, and their new circuitry to reduce memory access speed is yet to prove any signifigant performance gains.

For a dual P3? Not sure myself, didn't work with them much.
